After becoming a National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction in 2003, Mitch Schwartz attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he decided to pursue a bachelor's degree in (theoretical) mathematics. Desiring more time to gain experience and consider various career paths, he took time off from formal education, and during this period he became involved with the then-forming Flying 101 through his friendship with the founder, Azur Allen, who was in his graduating class in high school (Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, Hawaii). Around the same time, he discovered a strong interest in music composition and has been working on developing new creations ever since, one of which is featured briefly on the first Flying 101 DVD. As a member of the Flying 101 staff, he has fulfilled a number of roles since the beginning of the project, including film crew manager, webmaster, and secretary of the company. He hopes to reach a wide audience not only through his work with Flying 101 but also through continued self-application in music and the arts, and through an as-yet undecided career that may or may not involve mathematics. He plans to complete the last year or so of college needed to receive his bachelor's degree as soon as the conditions seem favorable, and in the meantime, he wishes everyone out there reading this a chance to achieve true flight.
